We all have art that has meaning to our lives; from family photos to souvenirs from our travels.  They are reminders of who we are, where we have been, and what we love.  If poorly positioned, sometimes those meaningful images get lost on the walls of our home.  Just by improving the placement through simple groupings we can create them into wonderful focal points.  This way we can truly benefit the chi we receive from all these images.

The two drawings I have drawn will help give you a better understanding on how you can accomplish this in your home.
1.    Both drawings have an average size wall: 12 foot wide and an 8 foot ceiling.
2.    The smaller sized frames are the standard 11”x14”.
3.    The line in the center of the frames is at five feet.  Why?  Because that’s the average eye level height and a good starting point to place your images.  Depending on your own height, you can adjust this higher or lower.

First let’s examine WALL A. The three standard frames are spaced wide apart trying to fill the entire wall space.  What happens is your vision is so spread apart that it does not read well.  None of the frames appear to look significant enough to notice and so they start to blend in with the walls.

Now let’s look at WALL B. The three standard frames are close together and now read as one picture.  This creates a focal point.  Your eyes are attracted to the larger ‘picture’.
By doing this you also create wall space on either side allowing you to place more art on the walls.  Notice that it is good to line the frames on the same wall with either the top, bottom , or center of the frames at the same height.  Structure in placement, creates visual balance.  From a feng shui perspective, when there is balance we feel good and relaxed.

Something as simple as placing pictures on walls can affect our mental well-being because when we are relaxed we are in a better mood.
